Netflix Unveils Trailer for Epic Drama ‘Néro the Assassin’

A new French historical drama is heading to Netflix this fall, as Néro the Assassin promises a mix of brutal action and a father’s quest for redemption.
Set in France in 1504, the Netflix original series follows Néro, a cynical assassin forced into an unexpected reunion with his long-lost daughter, Perla. When the pair become targets of shadowy enemies, Néro must choose between self-preservation and protecting the family he thought he had lost forever.
The series is created by Jean-Patrick Benes, Nicolas Digard, Martin Douaire, and Allan Mauduit, with production handled by Karé Productions. Néro the Assassin is slated to arrive on Netflix on October 8, 2025, bringing with it a fresh entry in the historical action genre.
French actor Pio Marmaï leads the cast as the ruthless Néro. He is joined by Olivier Gourmet, Louis-Do de Lencquesaing, Alice Isaaz, Camille Razat, and Yann Gael, rounding out a strong ensemble that heightens the drama’s emotional stakes and period authenticity.
The trailer showcases a relentless pace, with sword fights, betrayals, and sweeping landscapes, underscoring the series’ themes of vengeance, loyalty, and redemption. At the center is the fragile bond between father and daughter, tested against the backdrop of a violent and unstable era.
Néro the Assassin (original French title: Néro l’Assassin) will span eight episodes in its debut season. Each installment promises a blend of intimate character drama and large-scale action, aimed at appealing to both fans of historical storytelling and those seeking an adrenaline-driven adventure.
Netflix has been steadily increasing its investment in European productions, and this French series is another example of that global push. With its gripping premise and cinematic scope, Néro the Assassin may stand as one of the platform’s marquee international dramas this year.
