Black Mirror Writer Explores Soulmate Science in All of You

Apple TV+ drops the official trailer for All of You, a high-concept romantic drama where love is tested by science. The film, premiering this fall, blends futuristic speculation with timeless questions about human connection.
Apple TV+ has unveiled the first full look at All of You, a romantic drama directed and co-written by William Bridges, best known for his Emmy-winning Black Mirror episode “USS Callister.” The film debuted at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival and will stream globally on September 26, 2025.
At its core, All of You asks whether true love can withstand the ultimate test: a scientific program designed to reveal your soulmate. The story follows best friends Simon, played by Brett Goldstein, and Laura, portrayed by Imogen Poots, whose bond is challenged by the arrival of a technology called the “soul connex” test. According to the trailer, 5.7 million people have already found their match through the program.
Goldstein, who earned acclaim as Roy Kent on Ted Lasso, expands his creative reach here as both star and co-writer. His performance shifts from comedic grit to heartfelt vulnerability, establishing him as a romantic lead in a narrative that explores destiny, choice, and the fragility of modern relationships.
Bridges uses his sci-fi background to elevate the emotional stakes. Much like Black Mirror, All of You leans on speculative technology to provoke deeply human questions. But instead of dystopian anxiety, the film positions itself as a modern-day love story in the tradition of When Harry Met Sally…, with a futuristic twist.
The supporting cast adds further depth, with Zawe Ashton, Steven Cree, and Jenna Coleman joining the ensemble. Behind the scenes, producers Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett of Ryder Picture Company partner with MRC and Republic Pictures, reinforcing Apple TV+’s growing reputation for backing bold, thought-provoking originals.
Early reactions from TIFF described the 98-minute feature as “touching yet unsettling,” with one reviewer awarding it a 7/10 for its balance of intimacy and high-concept ambition. The film’s dual release strategy, arriving simultaneously in select theaters and on streaming, positions it for both critical and audience attention worldwide.
With its mix of romance, speculative science, and philosophical tension, All of You promises to stand alongside recent genre-bending films like Fingernails and Past Lives. As algorithms continue to influence real-world dating, the film’s premise feels strikingly relevant: is love something we choose, or simply something revealed by a test?
