Murder 360 Trailer Reveals Chilling Case Behind New Paramount+ Docuseries

Paramount+ dives deep into real-life horror with Murder 360, premiering August 5. The trailer revisits the haunting 2009 murder of 9-year-old Elizabeth Olten in Missouri.

Paramount+ has dropped the official trailer for Murder 360, its upcoming true-crime docuseries set to premiere on August 5, 2025. Produced by the streamer’s documentary unit, the 10-part series revisits some of the most shocking real-life murder cases in America, beginning with the tragic story of Elizabeth Olten, a 9-year-old girl brutally killed by a teenage neighbor in 2009.

The trailer for Murder 360 immediately centers viewers on the terrifying case that rocked St. Martins, Missouri. On October 21, 2009, Elizabeth Kay Olten was reported missing. Her body was later found in a shallow grave, and the suspect was no stranger: Alyssa Bustamante, a 15-year-old who lived nearby. The details of the crime are not only disturbing, they’re unforgettable.

Bustamante, now serving a life sentence, confessed in a chilling diary entry that she had strangled, stabbed, and slit the throat of the young girl simply to know “what it felt like to kill.” The trailer references this haunting confession and includes commentary from investigators, legal experts, and the victim’s family, painting a comprehensive portrait of a crime that shocked the nation.

In 2012, Bustamante pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and armed criminal action. Though initially sentenced with the possibility of parole, her request for early release was denied in July 2024. Her next parole hearing is scheduled for 2029, with her earliest probable release year projected as 2059.

Murder 360 also explores how Elizabeth’s death led to tangible change. Advocacy from her mother, Patty Preiss, helped drive new legislation in Missouri concerning sentencing for minors convicted of violent crimes. The docuseries aims to showcase not only the crimes, but also their ripple effects on communities, families, and legal systems.

While this episode anchors the series in one of the most disturbing juvenile crimes in U.S. history, Murder 360 promises to deliver equally thorough examinations of nine additional cases, using rare footage, firsthand accounts, and expert analysis. It’s a gripping reminder that the stories behind the headlines often run far deeper than we imagine.

Viewers drawn to psychological true crime, legislative justice, and community impact will find Murder 360 both harrowing and necessary. With its intimate storytelling and investigative depth, Paramount+ may have created one of the most unsettling and important docuseries of the year.
