Disney Channel Turns ‘Vampirina’ Into Live-Action Series This Fall

Disney Channel is bringing the beloved vampire tween into the real world with “Vampirina: Teenage Vampire,” premiering September 12, 2025, before landing on Disney+ October 15.
Disney Channel is taking one of its most successful preschool properties and reimagining it for a tween audience with the debut of Vampirina: Teenage Vampire. The new live-action series, produced by Dan Cross and David Hoge, will premiere its first two episodes on September 12, 2025, before the full 16-episode season becomes available on Disney+ and Disney Channel On Demand October 15.
The show introduces audiences to Vee, played by Kenzi Richardson, a tween vampire who moves from Transylvania to a performing arts boarding school. While juggling her passion for music, she must navigate life among humans, concealing her supernatural heritage. The mix of fantasy, mystery, and humor aims to capture a slightly older demographic than the original animated Vampirina.
Joining Richardson is Jiwon Lee as Sophie, her human roommate; Shaun Dixon as Elijah; Milo Maharlika as Demi, a centuries-old ghost; and Faith Hedley as Britney. Kate Reinders and Jeff Meacham portray Vee’s eccentric vampire parents, while Kim Coles takes on the role of Dean Merriweather.
The series also boasts a line-up of guest stars, including Emmy winner Mykal-Michelle Harris (Raven’s Home) as Ruby, Jenna Davis (M3GAN) as Megan, Ariel Martin, better known as Baby Ariel (ZOMBIES), as pop star Millie Eyelash, and Janice LeAnn Brown (Wizards Beyond Waverly Place) in a special crossover episode.
Behind the camera, the creative team includes Cross and Hoge as showrunners and executive producers, alongside Tim Federle, Bronwyn North-Reist, and Meg Deloatch. The production promises a music-driven approach, fusing supernatural coming-of-age themes with performance sequences designed to resonate with Disney Channel’s core audience.
Vampirina began as Anne Marie Pace’s Vampirina Ballerina book series before becoming a Disney Jr. animated hit from 2017 to 2021. This marks the character’s first live-action portrayal, part of Disney’s broader push to reimagine established animated properties for new age groups.
Disney describes Vampirina: Teenage Vampire as a story of friendship, self-discovery, and embracing one’s differences, all set to an energetic soundtrack. For fans who grew up with the animated Vee, this transition to live action offers a fresh yet familiar take on a character they already love.
