Apple’s Big Bite: How TV+ Devoured the Emmy Nominations

Apple TV+ has earned a record-breaking 81 Emmy nominations, catapulting the streaming newcomer into serious awards territory with a slate of bold, diverse, and star-powered originals.

Apple TV+ is making serious waves in the entertainment industry. On July 16, 2025, Apple released an Emmy-themed ad spotlighting its acclaimed originals after securing an impressive 81 Emmy nominations, its highest total yet. The campaign highlights standout series like Severance, The Studio, and Shrinking, underscoring the platform’s growing creative clout in Hollywood.

At the forefront of the nominations is Severance, the mind-bending workplace thriller from Dan Erickson and director Ben Stiller. With 27 nominations, it’s the most recognized drama this year. The show’s second season premiered on January 17, 2025, continuing its deep dive into corporate dystopia and fractured identities at Lumon Industries.

Meanwhile, The Studio, a comedy from Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, pulled off an astonishing 23 nominations, setting a record for a freshman comedy. The series, which follows a chaotic movie studio executive played by Rogen, uses satire to skewer the Hollywood system and features an ensemble of industry veterans and rising stars.

Apple’s strategic bet on A-list talent continues to pay off. The heartfelt dramedy Shrinking, starring Jason Segel and Harrison Ford, earned 7 nominations. And Slow Horses, led by Gary Oldman, secured 5, including a nod for Outstanding Drama Series, cementing its reputation as a gripping and intelligent espionage saga.

But Apple’s success goes beyond marquee names. The Emmy nods also recognize its commitment to diverse, global storytelling. Pachinko received nominations for its multilingual, multigenerational narrative. The documentary Deaf President Now! brings attention to the 1988 Gallaudet University protests. And Irish black comedy Bad Sisters earned a Lead Actress nod for Sharon Horgan in its second season.

Other noteworthy entries include Presumed Innocent, the legal thriller starring Jake Gyllenhaal, and Disclaimer, Alfonso Cuarón’s psychological miniseries starring Cate Blanchett. Both reflect Apple’s focus on prestige productions with cinematic flair.

The 2025 nominations mark a turning point for Apple TV+, reinforcing its rise from underdog to serious Emmy contender. With a growing reputation for quality and innovation, Apple is not just playing the streaming game, it’s reshaping it.
