Natasha Lyonne Plays Detective Again as Poker Face Season 2 Heats Up on Peacock

The hit mystery series returns with a new direction, a star-studded guest list, and Natasha Lyonne sharper than ever in her Emmy-nominated role.

Natasha Lyonne is back as human lie detector Charlie Cale in Season 2 of Poker Face, now streaming exclusively on Peacock. Created by Knives Out director Rian Johnson, the crime comedy-drama launched its sophomore season on May 8, 2025, with the first three episodes. New episodes drop weekly on Thursdays, with the season finale slated for July 10.

In a playful new Guess the Guest video, Lyonne and Johnson tease the season’s A-list cameos while poking fun at the show’s ever-growing popularity. This short promo doubles as a reminder of Poker Face’s star power, both behind and in front of the camera. The video, titled “Natasha Lyonne & Rian Johnson Play ‘Guess the Guest’, captures the fun energy that defines the series.

Lyonne, who also executive produces, brings a signature wit and intensity to Charlie Cale, a casino worker-turned-wanderer with an uncanny gift for spotting lies. Unlike Season 1, which saw Charlie on the run from the mob, Season 2 changes pace. By Episode 3, that arc is resolved, allowing the character to solve mysteries by choice, not desperation.

This narrative shift opens new storytelling lanes for the show’s inventive howcatchem format. A modern homage to Columbo, Poker Face reveals the killer upfront, then lets viewers follow Charlie as she unravels the truth. Johnson’s stylistic direction and love for mystery deepen the retro appeal, while keeping things fresh for a younger audience.

Guest stars are a major draw this season, aligning with the promo’s theme. From Cynthia Erivo (in a role playing multiple siblings) and Awkwafina, to Giancarlo Esposito, Katie Holmes, and Justin Theroux, the celebrity appearances are as bold as the crimes they’re tied to. Each episode feels like its own short film, with surprising twists and performances.

Poker Face continues to be a key player in Peacock’s original content lineup. With 41 million paid subscribers as of Q1 2025 and strong year-over-year growth, the platform has leaned on exclusive hits like this one. Lyonne’s role earned her both Emmy and Golden Globe nods, further boosting the show’s prestige, and Peacock’s visibility.

As Charlie’s journey becomes more introspective and deliberate, fans can expect not only more intricate cases but also deeper character moments. With ten more episodes to go, Poker Face Season 2 is shaping up to be even sharper, funnier, and more star-packed than its acclaimed debut.
