Love Is the Ultimate Lie in Netflix’s Fall for Me
A summer romance takes a dangerous turn in Fall for Me, the latest German thriller heading to Netflix. Directed by Sherry Hormann, the film delves into passion, secrets, and betrayal under the sun-drenched skies of Mallorca.
Lilli just wanted a break. Traveling to Mallorca to visit her sister Valeria, she expects little more than a quiet escape. But her curiosity is piqued when she meets Valeria’s charming new fiancé. As doubts about him grow, Lilli finds herself pulled into a steamy affair with Tom, a mysterious nightclub manager with secrets of his own.
Fall for Me is set to premiere globally on August 21st as a Netflix Original, marking the platform’s first German-language erotic thriller. Behind the scenes is acclaimed director Sherry Hormann and writer Stefanie Sycholt, supported by Wiedemann & Berg Film, the award-winning studio behind Dark and Crooks.
Shot on location in Mallorca, the film contrasts the island’s sunlit beauty with the dark undercurrents of deception and forbidden desire. According to Netflix, the production sought out “uniquely unknown locations” to heighten the story’s sense of tension and isolation.
Lead actors Svenja Jung (as Lilli) and Theo Trebs (as Tom) were guided through their intense on-screen chemistry by intimacy coordinator Florian Federl, ensuring the film’s erotic scenes were handled with sensitivity and trust.
The cast also includes Tijan Marei, Thomas Kretschmann, Antje Traue, Victor Meutelet, and Lucia Barrado, rounding out a strong ensemble of German and international talent.
